MAD DANDY VS MUD/WTR

We have Mad respect for MudWTR. We love the brand and how they’ve grown the coffee alternative category. That said, Mad Dandy is a better product and a better value than MudWTR for a number of reasons. Here’s why:

Mad Dandy is made with dandelion root.

This is the huge ingredient difference. Mad Dandy has 10,400 mg of dandelion root per serving which is loaded with antioxidants, anti-inflammatories, vitamins and minerals so it has tons of health benefits.

MudWTR has no dandelion root.

MudWTR has no dandelion root which makes Mad Dandy better and it makes this paragraph really short because there’s nothing else to say.

Mad Dandy has collagen protein.

Mad Dandy is made with 4500 mg of collagen protein. Collagen is a protein responsible for healthy joints and skin elasticity. It’s also cited as helping to increase bone density and lessen wrinkles. You can read about the benefits at this WebMD link.

MudWTR has no collagen protein.

MudWTR has no Collagen protein so we can only repeat that fact and move on.

Mad Dandy is made with Turmeric.

Turmeric has numerous health benefits, as referenced in this article by the Cleveland Clinic. Turmeric can lessen inflammation, improve memory, protect the liver and more. Mad Dandy includes turmeric as one of our base ingredients in both Original Mad Dandy and Decaf Mad Dandy.

MudWTR is not made with Turmeric

But does offer a Turmeric product sold separately for another $30. They offer other products sold separately like Cacao and Matcha. We keep it simple (and less expensive) and include all the good stuff in our base Mad Dandy and Decaf Mad Dandy. Mud/WTR makes you pay extra for it.

Mad Dandy tastes amazing.

Mad Dandy tastes like a creamy, nutty, cocoa latte. And it tastes amazing with nothing else added. Some people add their favorite milk but you don’t have to. Some like it light with one scoop, some like it richer with two or more heaping scoops.

MudWTR tastes “like dirty water.”*

*The New York Times says, “MudWtr is an apt name for a drink that tastes like dirty water.” And we don’t want to pile on, but try it.

Mad Dandy has 2000mg of mushrooms.

Mad Dandy is made with five kinds of mushrooms; Chaga, Reishi, Cordyceps, Lion’s Mane and Ashwaganda. Mad Dandy and Mud/WTR both use whole mushroom powders grown in indoor farms. MudWTR knows their mushrooms. Props.

MudWTR has 2400mg.

MudWTR is made with eight different mushrooms. Chaga, Reishi, Cordyceps and Lion’s Mane like Mad Dandy plus King Trumpet, Turkey Tail, Shitake, Maitake. Mud/WTR’s main ingredients are mushrooms and they do a great job with them, which they should considering they have no dandelion root, Collagen or Turmeric. Sorry, being a little catty there.

Mad Dandy is 45 calories.

A two-tablespoon serving of Mad Dandy is delicious, creamy, nutty, cocoa-y and just 45 calories per serving.

MudWTR is 85 calories + all the additives.

A two-tablespoon serving of MudWTR is 40 calories. Add their creamer to try and doctor the taste (45 calories) and MudWTR moves up to 85 calories. Add their sweetener to cover up the taste even more (30 calories) and it’s 115 calories. And many of their recipes call for maple syrup, honey or the like.

Mad Dandy costs $35 for a 30-day supply.

Mad Dandy is priced much lower than MudWTR, even though it offers everything MudWTR offers plus so much more; dandelion root, collagen, turmeric and a taste you’ll actually love.

MudWTR costs $60 for the same 30-day supply.

They also charge you extra for their creamer and sweetener, $30 and $25 respectively making MudWTR cost $105 for the 30-day supply. That’s 3X what Mad Dandy costs. And even with all the additives, it still doesn’t taste good, but we’re getting catty again, sorry.

Decaf Mad Dandy has Zero Caffeine.

Original Mad Dandy has 1/4 that of a cup of coffee to give you a bit of a kick, but very little. Decaf Mad Dandy tastes exactly the same as Original Mad Dandy but has NO caffeine so it’s perfect for bedtime.

MudWTR has 1/7 the caffeine of a cup of coffee.

MudWTR Rise is their main product and it has 1/7th the caffeine of a cup of coffee.

Mad Dandy beats MudWTR in almost every category

Mad Dandy has dandelion root, collagen, and turmeric, while MudWTR doesn’t. MudWTR does have 400 more mg of mushrooms than Mad Dandy, 2000mg to 2400mg, but that’s not much. Mad Dandy is lower in calories, costs a shit-ton less, tastes amazing, and doesn’t make you buy anything extra. On the other hand, Mad Dandy is made with peanuts and we have a touch of dairy in our Chai, which is a variety that tastes extra amazing but is not organic. And the collagen prevents us from being vegetarian, so no coffee alternative is perfect for everyone. But Mad Dandy certainly comes out on top against MudWTR. Try some to find out for yourself.
